Why and How is Makar Sankranti celebrated? Makar Sankranti is one of the most promising days for the Hindus and is distinguished in almost all parts of India in countless cultural forms with immense devotion, gaiety, and fervor. It is the main festival of Hindus and is dedicated to Lord Sun. Makar (Capricorn) is a Hindu zodiac mark, and Sankranti (Sat + Kranti) indicates good change or auspicious movement.
